Ella's Stocking

With both my last pregnancies, I had Cholestasis of Pregnancy. Cholestasis of pregnancy is very serious, it's rare and there's so much ignorance that goes with it, nurses often said things like, "oh you have ICP, that makes you itchy." I often calmly told them, " yes, it makes me itchy, but it can kill my baby." I didn't want them to think I took my diagnosis lightly. Basically the bile acids in your body build up causing you to itch and that's it for the mama.  Trust me though you Itch like crazy but the scariest thing is it can cause your baby to be stillborn if you go beyond 37 weeks into your pregnancy. They don't really know why, but your body is poisoning your baby.

This time last year I was pregnant with Ella and the itching had just started, it didn't come on gradually for me, it was more like one day I just started scratching so hard my skin would bleed.  I remember going to Target when everything was 90% off  (just a few days after the itching started) to buy stockings for the next year and I almost didn't get a stocking for Ella because I was afraid. Afraid she wouldn't be here for the next Christmas. Afraid of bringing down that box of discounted Christmas decorations the next year and pulling out the stocking for Ella, and breaking down because the treatment didn't work or because I wasn't induced in time. I didn't want to buy something that could possibly be a symbol of someone I wanted so badly but lost so early.

I stood there with three stockings, arguing with myself, debating, and I did, I put one back. As stood in line to pay, I told myself to listen to my mom and stay positive. I walked all the way back from the register and grabbed it and bought that stocking. I had my baby shower, I bought Ella all the cute little things I had been eyeing, I took maternity pictures and I tried to enjoy my pregnancy as much as I could and now she's here safe.  I know my positive thinking wasn't the only factor that helped her come here safe, I know it was god, medical intervention and so much more.  I also know every outcome with ICP isn't always like mine. There's so many moms with ICP who lose their baby and it's heart breaking and I hurt for them. I am so fortunate to have all three of my beautiful children, and truthfully, I cried so much when I put up Ella's stocking up, from just the joy of being able to hang it up and having it .

Of course with three little's, now I can post all kinds of cheesy matching Christmas pictures.

Every Holiday

I've been really bad about blogging. I thought I would do better but my boyfriend hates taking pictures of my outfits. He's a modest guy, so taking pictures of his girlfriend in public is kinda weird for him. I've been on the hunt for the perfect over the knee boots and these are definitely NOT them. I have to take them to a cobbler to have the back fitted. They're super loose. I really have a pair in mind but forking over $700 for them.... I'll have to skip that. I hope you all have an excellent Christmas!

Twirl Twirl

I had a wonderful thanksgiving, and I hope anyone that reads this blog had one as well. If you were able to score some good finds for black Friday, I applaud you. I went with my boyfriend and daughter to a few sales and it was madness. Despite the madness, we were able to get one main thing I was scouting out.  Before we made it to his families to gobble up the turkey, I forced him to stop and snap some pictures of me. He acts like he hates it, but I know he loves it. He he.

New York, Next Year

I visited New York with my guy for our Anniversary.  I received a trip to see lady liberty and an amazing dinner for a gift.  It was literally the best gift I've ever received. I took him to see Spiderman on Broadway. I tried for Lion King but it was sold out. Spiderman was a very good alternative.  I would have worn heels but of course with the amount of walking we did in New York, my heels went untouched.  I opted for some trusty leather converse.

This is what I strolled around Times Square in:

Filthy Plaid

I  convinced my boyfriend to take us to the LA County fair on their closing day here in Pomona. I wanted to get the last bit of wear out of my chanclas (sandals) before I fully commit to boots for the fall season. Oh how I wish I'd worn boots, because my feet were filthy by the end of the night.  I found these amazing shorts at my favorite thrift store for........50 cents! I know! I couldn't believe it. I plan to pair them with so much more, chunky knit fisherman sweater from AA, sweatshirts, My Moto boots and maybe over the knee boots ( if I can manage to find the perfect pair). An essential find to my closet for .50 cents. Thank you thrift gods!

SUMMER DRESSES FOR FALL

Dress: Vintage rework (re-designed by me) Shoes: Charles Jourdan  Bag: Philip Lim

I haven't had much time this week to dress up. I went out on a date to the Grove and wore my favorite summer dress. It's an amazing 70's dress, from a maker here in California. I redesigned the skirt, I tend to do that with a majority of my vintage finds.

I just got this Philip Lim bag, for target of course. It seems to be the theme with most girls, their boyfriends buy them very expensive bags for their birthday, Christmas, or anniversary gift. I just want to tell you, I for one am no different. Hint hint hint. Of course I would love and appreciate anything I receive.

Mariscos Y Mariposas

Dress: Naven Shoes: Zara Sun Glasses: Carrera Courtesy of Karla's Closet

Heels take any outfit I wear to a whole different level. Heels literally elongate my legs and position my body in a way that makes my outfit look entirely different. I wore this Butterfly silk dress by Naven to a baby shower, with a floppy hat and some sandals and it seemed very appropriate. My Mother said she loves the ventilation on the dress. Lol. However, I wore this same dress to a weekend family BBQ and the heels made me feel like I was too dressy. Oh well, I don't get to dress up as much as I once did. So Heels to a BBQ it is. The thing about heels, is they have to be the right ones. Sometimes an outfit calls for an elaborate heel and other times a simple sexy shoe will accent a particular outfit perfectly. One thing I personally will never do is wear a Kitten Heel. No. No.No. It's either sky high, and I mean so high, I have to bend over to kiss my mamasita goodbye, high or flat as a chola's hair after a hot shower. Another must have for me this summer are my glasses pictured here. I love my Carrera glasses so much, I won them in blog Give away for Karlascloset.com. They're literally the best glasses I've ever worn thus far. The Cobalt blue is the best part, they add color to anything I'm wearing and they never clash!
